elero linear actuator receives UL certificate for USA and Canada
Products intended for the US market have to fulfil comparatively high safety standards – not least of all due to the far-reaching product liability legislation in the USA. That the linear actuator Econom 0 meets these requirements can now be demonstrated by the manufacturer elero Linearantriebstechnik in black on white: Since December 2005 the actuators have been allowed to carry the UL test mark.
The abbreviation “UL” stands for Underwriters Laboratories, a public organization headquartered in Illinois, which certifies products in accordance with US and Canadian safety and environmental criteria. In order to receive the UL certification necessary for the marketing of products in North America the products have to meet a number of requirements, such as thermal resilience, safety with applications and production, and weather resistance. Individual materials, components and the local production flows are also tested in addition to the finished product. This also means that UL controllers will be visiting the workshops in Pößneck four times a year in the future.
Flexible actuator of the highest quality
elero has succeeded in attaining certification to UL standards quite quickly because individual components in the Econom have long since been granted UL approval. Moreover, the actuator has for many years now been produced in line with the stringent quality guidelines of elero Linearantriebstechnik, and successfully marketed in Europe and Asia. The linear actuator is, on the one hand, capable of performing exact linear movements in engineering, for instance with hoisting tables, sliding gates, tilting devices and butterfly vales. As the Econom 0 – just like all linear actuators – works without any lubricant and is also available in stainless steel, it is particularly suited to use in foodstuff and pharmaceutical production. On the other hand, it is used in façade architecture, where for example it aligns sun protection slats precisely and right down to the millimetre.
Tapping new markets with a forward-looking technology
UL approval is of major significance for elero Linearantriebstechnik because the company can thus be assured of access to the American markets in the fields of façade technology and engineering, which are characterized by strong growth. Here the elero management expects to see brisk demand for the forward-looking linear actuator technology.
